Wortzman Nickle is a law firm that specializes in advising clients on e-discovery and providing litigation management services. Our clients are primarily litigation law firms and mid to large sized corporations. Since we first opened, our firm has been involved in many cases involving significant volumes of electronic information. In addition to providing legal advice on all aspects of the e-discovery process, we manage the lawyer review phase with a combination of electronic tools and a dedicated, cost-effective lawyer review team.
We work with an excellent team of experienced review lawyers. They are all members in good standing with the Law Society of Upper Canada, and are insured through LawPro. Our review lawyers are dedicated to and focused on each review. This focus avoids the interruptions that non-dedicated review lawyers experience when trying to balance review work with the demands of other files. Our review lawyers have experience with many different types of software.
Although some of our lawyers have more than five years of legal experience, we are able to charge them out at very moderate hourly rates. In addition to competitive hourly rates, our firm’s real strength comes from the value we add to each file. For each review project, we prepare training materials that include detailed guidelines on relevance, issues coding, significance and privilege. Our guidelines are customized to each file. We conduct comprehensive training sessions to ensure our team fully understands the issues in your case. Each project is led by a dedicated Project Manager who will work closely with your litigation team.
Wortzman Nickle also adds value by assessing your collection of records and determining the best methodology for review. Each case is unique. We never start by conducting a document by document, linear review. Instead, based on our assessment of your collection, we determine which electronic review tools are most appropriate for use to expedite the review phase. For example, in several significant reviews, we used concept-clustering and near de-duplication software at the triage stage, which allowed us to reduce volumes of emails by 75-95%. Once the triage was completed, our review team was able to focus on a much smaller collection of relevant records. This triage process significantly expedites the review process, saving our clients millions of dollars. The use of electronic tools in conjunction with a manual review is recommended in the Sedona Canada Principles® and it has proven to be the most cost-effective review methodology.
Our experience with electronic tools to facilitate reviews will expedite the productivity of a review. This also significantly increases the consistency of the review as a whole.
